Successful Body-Mind Interactions Symposium at Kyushu University

We are thrilled to extend the WBA (Well-Being with Arts project) team’s heartfelt gratitude. Thank you to everyone who participated in the Body-Mind Interactions Symposium held from November 5th to 8th, 2024, at Kyushu University, Japan. The symposium was organised by Dr. Charlène Clonts, associate professor at Kyushu University (Japan), and Dr. Lorenzo Cardilli, associate professor at the University of Udine (Italy). Your engagement and contributions made this event a resounding success.

With 125 registrations, 82 attendees joined both online and on-site. The symposium was a vibrant hub of insightful discussions and exchanges. We explored diverse perspectives on body-mind interactions, bridging Western and Eastern viewpoints.

Highlights of the Symposium

  • Keynote Speeches: We were honored to have keynote speeches from Pr. Kazufumi Yoshihara of Kyushu University (Japan), who delved into the neural basis of body-mind interactions, and Pr. Jean Khalfa from Trinity College, Cambridge University (UK), who discussed the works of Fanon and Tosquelles.
  • Academic and Practical Sessions: The symposium featured a rich blend of academic papers. These papers were of high quality and interest. They were deeply related to the WBA research project.
  • Interdisciplinary Approach: The event successfully bridged academia and non-academia, fostering a holistic understanding of body-mind interactions. This included practical presentations and practices in yoga, meditation, and shiatsu/bodywork.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to announce that a book about Body-Mind Interactions is in the works. We will keep you informed about the progress of this peer reviewed publication.

Thank you once again for your participation and enthusiasm. We look forward to continuing this journey of exploring the intricate connections between body and mind through the arts.
